Professor Shonku is a series of science fiction books written by Satyajit Ray. Shonku first appeared in the book “Byomjatrir Diary”. Satyajit Ray was inspired to create “Professor Shonku” based on the characters “Professor Challenger” by Arthur Conan Doyle and “Hesoram Hushiar” by his father Sukumar Ray.

Professor Shonku is a fictional scientist and inventor. His full name is Trilokeshwar Shonku. He finished his BSc degree in both Physics and Chemistry. He knows 69 languages. He has a laboratory where he researches for new and extraordinary inventions in his house in Giridi. He invented many things like “Miracurall” which cures any ailment, “Shankoplast” which is a wonderful plastic etc.

He has a servant named Prahllad and a cat named ‘Newton’ which is 24 years old.
